Industrial Maintenance

A wide-range of employees are required to keep your sophisticated industrial  machinery running smoothly - from highly-skilled industrial machinery mechanics to machinery maintenance workers who perform routine tasks. Our training is two-fold:

  • First, either instructor-led and/or computer-based CD-Rom training is provided to familiarize personnel with the principles of the various disciplines
  • Second, personnel attend a hands-on lab that will ensure, in a practical manner, that principles have been learned

In addition, we utilize the following tools:

  • "Hands-on" training with JobMaster training benches
  • "On-the-job" work assignments
  • Compressed video delivery

 

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Training

PLC Fundamentals

In this course, students will learn the basic layout of PLC hardware and the terminology associated with a PLC system.  Students will also develop a small PLC program using RSLogix 500 software.  Class meets for a total of 24 non-credit hours.

Advanced PLC Control

This course covers Allen Bradley Control Logix design, selesction, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting using Control Logix PLC controls.  Emphasis will be placed on the selestion of PLC components and the design/troubleshooting of wiring/ladder logic PLC programs to control typical industrial automated systems.  Class meets for a total of 40 non-credit hours.

Individual PLC Module Training

PLC Communications

Setting up and troubleshooting PLC communications is one of the most necessary skills for maintenance personnel.  Before any PLC troubleshooting can be done, personnel would have to go online with the processor.  This module covers serial and Ethernet communications with the SLC 500 and Control Logix PLC platform.  Class meets for a total of 8 non-credit hours.

SLC/CLX 500 Series Troubleshooting

This module covers troubleshooting an existing RS Logix 500 program, with a focus on the modification of timers, counters, and address changes.  Class meets for a total of 8 non-credit hours.

Control Logix 5000 Series Commissioning

This module covers commissioning a new RS Logix 5000 control system, with a focus on the replacement of existing components within the CLX system, and the startup of a new control logix system and the issues regarding firmware compatibility between components.  The class does not cover programming.  Class meets for a total of 8 non-credit hours.

Panel View Plus

In this class, students will create a new Factory Talk View ME project and download to a Panel View Plus.  Students will also learn to backtrace HMI objects to the CLX tags, and learn tips on graphic design in relation to the Factory Talk View software.  Class meets for a total of 8 non-credit hours.

The Principles of Industrial Maintenance Certificate

The Principles of Industrial Maintenance Certificate provides students and companies with a total of 96 non-credit hours of training on the fundamentals of industrial maintenance.  It focuses on the core skills of an industrial maintenance technician.  Areas of study are safety, motor control, PLC motor control, hydraulics, and mechanical drive systems.  Students are tested with the computer-based Clarity system and must receive a score of 70% or higher on each area to receive their certificate.  For more information, please contact Cameron McKinney at (479) 788-7791 or email Cameron McKinney.
 

Industrial Motor Control Fundamentals

This course delivers a broad-based understanding of important motor control principles and concepts.  Students will learn the basic layout of a hardwired motor control system and the terminology associated with the system and will develop and wire all standard motor control circuits using JobMaster 3-phase trainers.  Also covered are basic safety precautions when working with 3-phase power and the dangers of hot work.  Class meets for a total of 24 non-credit hours.

Industrial Mechanical Fundamentals

This course focuses on standard mechanical power transmission, such as roller, belt, and gear drives.  Includes hands-on labs for the students to install and align a drive system, covers safety precautions when working with drives, and the common failure points for drive systems. Class meets for a total of 24 non-credit hours.
